2012 is looking like a fantastic year with many initiatives reaching fruition:
We are excited about welcoming our very own science teacher to our school who will work at our school every Thursday with classes, identified enrichment groups and our after school science class.
We have our ongoing focus of catering for our gifted and talented pupils through the focus of 2 staff on making sure we meet all of these pupil’s needs.
We continue with 6 small classes with no class larger than 22 pupils and the academic benefits that our pupils gained from the BOT funded initiative were outstanding in 2011 and is now one of the main identifying features of our school.
Some highlights to look forward to this year are:
Year 5/6 & Year 7/8 camps in term 3
Interchange for maths and reading
Science and art weeks
6 small classes
End of term celebration afternoons
Sports exchange with Papakaio School
Gifted and talented programmes
Year 4-8 leadership challenge (similar to Duke of Edinburgh & Queen’s Scout awards)
A school funded reading recovery teacher working with our pupils 3 afternoons a week
A year 8 financial literacy programme
Free entry into Australian maths competitions
Extra swimming coaching from PTA
A proud WAVE school
We have a very supportive community and our BOT & PTA support the running of the school effectively in the governance and fundraising roles respectively.
I look forward to being involved with you all over the coming year and if you think our school is for you and your child please feel free to contact myself and the staff at school.
