Management of behaviours:

Each class is expected to have their own in class behavioural management system for minor issues but if the behaviour is deemed serious enough at the teacher’s discretion the child may be put on a step; although the step system is not developed to replace the in class system and should not be used in a punitive way.

It is also expected that all staff deal with any negative behaviours in a calm, nonthreatening, professional manner that would not have the child feeling intimidated or belittled etc.  Or should there be significant raised voices.

The step system is predominantly used for playground times but may include the likes of the bus and serious in class behaviours if required.

What behaviours deem being placed on a step?

·         Swearing

·         Bullying

·         Continual non-sharing or hogging of school equipment

·         Physical violence

·         Repeated non co-operation/ non compliance

·         Stealing or removing/ hiding others property
